Rabat – Today July 5 will see the start of the make-up exams for baccalaureate students who were not successful during the first exam session, which took place between June 6-10 and whose results were announced on June 19.

The make-up exam session will take place from July 5 to 8. Candidates will take the exam in their respective schools, while the results will be announced on July 13, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports said in a statement.

The make-up exams serve as a second chance for baccalaureate students to catch up on their performances, in order to be able to apply for higher educational institutions.

According to the ministry, the number of candidates who took the baccalaureate exams this year increased by 18% from the previous academic year to almost 400,000.

Meanwhile, the number of candidates who passed their exams rose by 14,000, or 6%, compared to the previous year.

The pass rate for the national baccalaureate exam in 2023 was 59.74%, which was comparable to the rates prior to the 2019 academic year.

Moreover, of the total applicants who passed their baccalaureate exams this year, 142,051 were female students.

Additionally, as part of the ministry’s efforts to digitize the education sector, National Education, Preschool, and Sports Minister Chakib Benmoussa recently declared in a statement that the ministry will be giving students digitized baccalaureate diplomas starting with this year’s cohort.

The digitization of Baccalaureate certificates means any forgery attempt will be thwarted, while the time between the release of exam results and the distribution of the diploma to graduates will be shortened.
