EBRD Vice President to Visit Morocco to Discuss Upscaling Investment

Rabat – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Vice President for Policy and Partnerships, Mark Bowman, will conduct a three-day visit to Morocco to meet senior government officials.

A statement from the EBRD said Bowman’s visit will focus on discussions aimed at upscaling investment in Morocco.

The visit, scheduled for June 24-26, will include meetings with Minister of Water Nizar Baraka and Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour.

“I am excited to be back in Morocco and to engage with our partners across the public and private sectors,” he said ahead of his visit.

The EBRD quoted Bowman as emphasizing the bank’s commitment to strong cooperation with Morocco and its determination to continue supporting the country’s economic priorities, including sustainable growth, a stronger private sector, and the transition to a greener economy.

In addition to senior officials, Bowman will also hold meetings with public and private sector actors and local bank representatives to discuss future projects and explore ways to expand access to finance and support private sector development in the country, the statement adds.

Haytham Eissa, EBRD Head of Morocco, will join Bowman during his visit to Morocco.

To date, EBRD investment in Morocco stands at €6.2 billion, covering 129 projects across the country, with 68%of investment going to the private sector. 

In June last year, Bowman attended the “World Cup, World Climate” conference in Rabat.

In a statement to Morocco World News (MWN), Bowman emphasized the EBRD’s strong support for Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, particularly in ensuring the event is climate-resilient and inclusive.

He also highlighted the EBRD’s long-standing partnership with Morocco.He also expressed satisfaction with cooperation with Morocco across various sectors, stating that the bank’s priorities in the country include supporting private sector development, advancing the climate transition, and promoting social inclusion.
