Agadir – The Arab Parliament has commended King Mohammed VI’s efforts in defending Jerusalem and supporting the Palestinian people, reaffirming his role as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee during the eighth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the Presidents of Arab Councils and Parliaments.

The recognition came in a resolution adopted at the closing of the conference on Saturday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. The Arab Parliament organized the event in partnership with the Arab Parliamentary Union.

The resolution commended King Mohammed VI’s leadership in safeguarding the city and supporting the resilience of Palestinians, particularly those living in Jerusalem.

Delegates also reaffirmed their support for the strategic role played by the Al-Quds Committee under the King’s chairmanship, describing it as a key mechanism for defending Jerusalem, preserving its religious and Abrahamic identity, and strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian population.

The resolution further denounced measures by the Israeli Occupation Forces aimed at changing Jerusalem’s legal, historical, and demographic character, reiterating Arab support for efforts to protect the city’s status.

Participants reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s “legitimate and inalienable rights,” foremost among them the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The text also reiterated support for the right of Palestinian refugees to return and receive compensation in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

In addition, the conference stressed that the two-state solution remains the only viable path toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace, in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Al-Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, operates under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and has long focused on preserving Jerusalem’s cultural and religious heritage while supporting development projects that benefit the city’s Palestinian residents.
