Rabat –Morocco signed an agreement Wednesday governing its participation in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.
The agreement provides the legal framework governing the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s participation, reaffirming the country’s commitment to supporting regional peace and security.
The signing took place during the visit of Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the Gaza Peace Council.
Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita and Minister Delegate in charge of National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi received Mladenov in Rabat in implementation of the high instructions of King Mohammed VI.
Morocco’s planned contribution includes the deployment of senior armed forces officers to the ISF Joint Command, personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), as well as the establishment of a military field hospital.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the National Defense Administration. The Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, as well as a high-level delegation from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF in Gaza attended the meeting.
A statement from the national defense administration said the visit took place as part of Morocco’s implementation of its commitment as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council. The membership is in line with the monarch’s high directives during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington, which was chaired by US President Donald Trump.
During the meeting, Morocco’s delegation emphasized that the country’s participation in the ISF is part of its longstanding commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity.
Morocco also reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to promoting peace and security in the Middle East, citing its extensive experience in UN peacekeeping operations and its sustained regional and international efforts to advance peace and stability.
According to the statement, Morocco’s delegation also stressed the royal initiatives that the King launched, particularly regional integration projects that contribute to security and social development.
Senior officials from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF Commander welcomed Morocco’s decision to join the peace initiative, hailing the country’s planned contributions.
