Rabat – French child protection association Innocence en danger is preparing legal action against the French state after the death of Daniel Siad, the modeling scout linked to Jeffrey Epstein whose name appeared nearly 2,000 times in documents released by the US Justice Department’s Epstein files.

The association accuses French authorities of moving too slowly in the French branch of the Epstein investigation, arguing that years of delays amount to a “denial of justice.”

Speaking to RTL on Thursday, the association’s lawyer, Nathalie Bucquet, said Siad should have been questioned years ago. “Once again, justice arrived too late,” she said. “His involvement with Jeffrey Epstein as a recruiter had been mentioned for years.”

Bucquet noted that a young woman told investigators she had been approached by Siad on the Champs-Élysées and was interviewed as early as 2020. She questioned why Siad was never questioned or formally investigated despite remaining in France for months.

“In this case, we waited far too long,” she said. “Today we can only regret that Mr. Siad was never heard.”

According to the association, Siad was the subject of five complaints, including two alleging rape, and was also accused of human trafficking. His death automatically ends any judicial proceedings that specifically concerned him

‘There have been a lot of deaths’

Innocence en danger said it is preparing to sue the French state before the Paris Judicial Court for what it describes as a denial of justice. The group also renewed its call for an investigating judge to take over the case, arguing it would allow victims’ lawyers greater oversight of the inquiry.

Association president Homayra Sellier also criticized the handling of the investigation. “There are girls who spoke out. Siad had five complaints. What were we waiting for?” she said.

The group further criticized authorities for searching Epstein’s apartment on Paris’ Avenue Foch only five weeks after his death in 2019, calling the delay “incomprehensible.”

Bucquet also pointed to the growing number of deaths connected to the case. “Every time a death occurs, it suits everyone,” she said, while adding she was not endorsing conspiracy theories. “There have been a lot of deaths.”

The Paris prosecutor’s office has said its investigation into an alleged organized human trafficking network will continue despite Siad’s death.

The case has drawn attention in Morocco as well, as previously released emails showed Siad discussing recruiting women during trips that included Morocco, alongside countries such as South Africa, Sweden, Spain, and Cuba.
