Rabat – A delegation of Moroccan companies operating in various sectors participated in the annual Investment Summit “Select USA” that was held from May 1 to 4 in Washington D.C., with the aim of encouraging foreign investment and establishing new connections and opportunities in the US.

Managing Director of the American Chamber of Commerce Rabia El Alama told Morocco’s news agency MAP that the Moroccan participation in the Investment Summit was an opportunity to explore business and investment opportunities, as well as the offers and facilities available at the local and federal levels of the US.

The Moroccan participation in the summit was coordinated by the Commercial Service of the US Embassy in Rabat and the American Chamber of Commerce.

Participants included government officials and experts, along with representatives of American states and different regions of the world. They all gathered in the event which took place at the National Harbor in Maryland.

One of the themes covered at the 2023 summit related to the role of women in technology and innovation.

During the summit, Morocco introduced a project in the field of application development through the OCP Maintenance Solutions company, represented by Sara Khadim.

The Moroccan candidate reached the final stage of the competition at this summit, alongside representatives from Canada, Israel, and Ukraine.

Referencing the importance of Morocco’s participation, El Alama noted that international expansion is no longer a choice but a necessity, stressing that the American market is one of the most profitable and attractive destinations in the world.

“Select USA Investment Summit” is the largest event dedicated to the promotion of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. This U.S. government program connects qualified foreign companies with American economic development organizations to facilitate business investment and job creation.

Morocco and the US share lengthy and strong diplomatic ties as well as healthy economic relations.

Last month, Mayor of Alexandria, Virginia, Justin Wilson welcomed Moroccan small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that wished to invest in the city or sought partnerships with American businesses, offering Moroccan investors the opportunity to reinforce their economic presence in the city.

On the sidelines of a recent meeting organized by the Moroccan American Network, the mayor said that Alexandria offers a wide range of investment opportunities and business partnerships, stressing his commitment to assisting local businesses.
