Agadir – Morocco and Serbia discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, and information technologies during a meeting in Belgrade on Monday.
Serbia’s Minister of Information and Telecommunications Boris Bratina met with Morocco’s Ambassador to Serbia Omar Amghar to discuss cooperation and the exchange of experience in the information and telecommunications sectors.
The two officials discussed several areas of potential cooperation, including telecommunications infrastructure, 5G technology, optical networks, data centers, cloud infrastructure, AI, and cybersecurity.
They also examined opportunities for cooperation in digital infrastructure and data centers, according to Serbia’s Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.
Morocco is implementing its “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which includes efforts to expand digital infrastructure and strengthen national capacities in cloud computing, AI, and digital public services.
The Moroccan government is also developing a sovereign data center in Rabat with a planned capacity of 50 megawatts. The facility is intended to support cloud services, digital public administration, AI, high-performance computing, and cybersecurity.
“It was assessed that there is room for intensifying cooperation between institutions and companies of the two countries, as well as for the exchange of experiences in the field of digital transformation, development of electronic communications, cloud technologies, data centers, artificial intelligence and information security,” Serbia’s ministry stated.
Bratina and Amghar also discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between institutions and companies from both countries and to exchange expertise in digital transformation, electronic communications, cloud technologies, data centers, AI, and information security.
The two officials said the longstanding relations between Morocco and Serbia, built on nearly seven decades of diplomatic ties, provide a basis for further developing bilateral cooperation.
