Rabat – Morocco has launched two international tenders worth a combined estimated MAD 1.52 billion ($152 million) to upgrade the Grand Stadium of Fez ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The contracts form part of a broader rehabilitation program aimed at upgrading the stadium’s technical and operational infrastructure to meet the requirements for major international sporting events.
The first tender, identified as AOOI/02/GSF/2026/ANEP, concerns high- and low-voltage electrical works and is estimated at MAD 1.291 billion.
The second tender, AOOI/03/GSF/2026/ANEP, covers fluid-related works, including plumbing, fire protection, air conditioning, ventilation, and smoke extraction systems. Its estimated value stands at MAD 228.18 million.
Together, the two contracts have an estimated value of approximately MAD 1.519 billion.
Electrical and technical systems
The larger contract includes the installation and equipment of the stadium’s high- and low-voltage electrical systems.
The works will cover electrical equipment and lighting networks, as well as fire detection and automatic fire suppression systems.
The project also includes information and communications networks, audiovisual systems, electronic screens, sound systems, and television broadcasting infrastructure.
Surveillance cameras, access control systems, and a centralized technical management system for the stadium’s various facilities are also included.
The estimated value of the contract is MAD 1,291,232,409.48, with a provisional guarantee set at MAD 20 million.
The opening of bids is scheduled for November 10, 2026, at 10 a.m.
Air conditioning and safety systems
The second contract, covering fluid-related works, is valued at an estimated MAD 228,181,888.80.
It mainly includes sanitary plumbing, fire protection systems, air conditioning, ventilation, and smoke extraction equipment.
The provisional guarantee for the contract has been set at MAD 4 million, with bids scheduled to be opened on November 10 at 11 a.m.
The electrical and high- and low-voltage works are expected to take 18 months from the date the order to begin the works is issued.
The fluid-related works are scheduled to take 15 months, while the projects will include a 24-month warranty period beginning from provisional acceptance.
Part of broader Fez Stadium renovation
The two tenders are part of a wider rehabilitation program for the Grand Stadium of Fez. The budget allocated to the stadium’s rehabilitation program for 2026 is estimated at MAD 2.79 billion.
The project goes beyond architectural upgrades and spectator facilities. It also focuses on smart systems, safety, communications, television production, surveillance, and technical management.
These upgrades are intended to bring the stadium in line with the technical and operational requirements needed to host major international competitions.
The acceleration of work at the Fez stadium is part of a broader renovation program involving several Moroccan stadiums ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
