Rabat – With the end of the holy month of Ramadan approaching, astronomers around the world are issuing forecasts about the dates of Eid Al-Fitr. In Tunisia, Eid Al Fitr 2023 is expected on Friday, April 21, according to astronomy calculations.

Sarah Senousi, president of Tunis Science City, told Radio Express FM that the first day of Eid will take place on Friday, April 21, following the possibility of observing the crescent moon with a telescope on Thursday, April 20.

Senousi highlighted that the crescent moon will not be visible to the naked eye on Thursday evening.

Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days depending on the crescent moon sightings.

Countries like China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar are expected to celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Friday.

In a few other countries, meanwhile, Ramadan is projected to last 30 days, with Eid al-Fitr falling on Saturday April 22.

Moroccan astronomer Hicham Aissaoui expects the holiday to fall on April 22 in Morocco.

Eid Al Fitr is a special celebration that marks the completion of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar.

For Muslims across the world, Eid Al Fitr is an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends while participating in numerous social and religious rituals and traditions as well as enjoying special Eid food and sweets after a month of fasting.
