Rabat – The Top Employers Institute has certified Chinese technology giant Huawei as a “Top Employer” in the African continent for the year 2023, a recognition of the company’s working environment and people-focused HR practices.

Huawei was also named Top Employer in a number of African countries, including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Congo.

The Top Employer Institute assesses companies’ performance in regard to the quality of the work environment they provide for their employees, and certifies companies that offer “innovative HR [Human Resources] practices that put people first,” indicated a Huawei press release.

The institute grants its certification based on the companies’ results in the HR Best Practices Survey, which features six main HR categories. These categories are divided into 20 themes, including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, training and skills development, well-being at work, and diversity and inclusion.

CEO of the Top Employer Institute David Plink said that the institute witnessed “exceptional performance” from the Top Employer 2023 certified companies, as part of the institute’s Top Employers Certification Program.

“These employers have always shown that they care for the development and well-being of their people,” Plink added, celebrating the Top Employers’ efforts to “collectively enrich the world of work.”

Meanwhile, the Executive Vice President of Huawei North Africa Philippe Wang celebrated the recognition that the company received for its people-focused workplace practices.

“At Huawei, local social impact is at the heart of our ambition in Africa,” Wang said, explaining that the company seeks to “accelerate the democratization of digital technologies” and grant everyone access to essential services.

He notably thanked Huawei employees for the “positive impact” they create on a daily basis. “The Top Employer certification thus rewards the work done by our personnel, who thrive in a caring corporate culture,” he stressed.

Du Yin, Human Resources Director of Huawei North Africa, also celebrated the company’s certification, saying that it is a “great source of pride” for them.

“Huawei has always promoted a positive, open, and inclusive vision in the recruitment of its employees,” Yin highlighted, adding that the company offers its employees “the best working environment and a rewarding, exciting, and fulfilling work experience.”
