In July, the Export Director of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE) Meryem Kabbadj praised the “dynamic” relations between Rabat and Seoul, calling upon Korean investors in the automotive and aeronautics sectors to explore growth opportunities in the Moroccan market.
Last year, South Korea exported $7 billion worth of electric cars, placing it fourth globally after Germany ($28.8 billion), the United States ($10.1 billion), and China ($10 billion).
This year, the Korea International Trade Association reported that Korean-made EVs represented 30.3% of the country’s vehicle exports from January to May, adding that Hyundai Motor’s IONIQ 5 and Kia’s EV6 entered the US, the world’s largest car market.
Given the significant growth in Korea’s hybrid and electric vehicle market, Morocco is also interested in increasing its share in the global automotive sector, planning to learn from the Korean experience by consolidating strategic partnerships with Seoul.
