Rabat- Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour and his Saudi counterpart Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, signed two partnership agreements to boost trade and cooperation on Monday in Rabat.
One of the agreements covers the mutual accreditation of Halal certificates. The deal focuses on the development of cooperation in the field of mutual recognition of halal certificates for local products.
The second cooperation agreement concerned a draft program for technical collaboration between Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization and the Moroccan Institute for Standardization.
This program aims to develop the exchange of expertise and information in the field of standardization and strengthen coordination between government agencies in this area.
The two cooperation agreements aim to advance cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries. The signing of the agreement marked the presence of a Saudi delegation led by Al Qasabi.
Expressing satisfaction with the signed agreements, Morocco’s trade minister said that the Saudi delegation visit “ is of utmost significance” as it seeks to help develop the “already strategic ties” between Rabat and Riyadh.
“It is also significant because it includes more than 90 personalities, including 20 public figures and more than 60 private business figures who came to explore the possibilities of strengthening bilateral trade and investment,’’ the Moroccan minister said.
Saudi Arabia is Morocco’s top trading partner in the Arab world. On September 6, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan and pledged to deepen bilateral ties in a way that serves the interests of the brotherly countries and peoples.
