Rabat – Khalid Safir was appointed by King Mohammed VI on Wednesday, July 13 as general-director of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG).
Safir has replaced Abdellatif Zaghnoun, who occupied the position since 2015.
Prior to his appointment, Safir served as a Wali and Director General of Local Authorities (DGCT).
Born in 1967 in Settat, 85 km from Casablanca, Safir graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique de Paris in 1991. Two years later, he worked at the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment as head of the financial management division of the port of Casablanca.
In 1995, Safir joined the Ministry of Finance as a research officer, before becoming a director in the same department in 1998.
Safir began his professional career in 2004 as Director of Modernization of Resources and Information Systems at the General Treasury. In 2006, Safir was appointed Governor of Casablanca’s al Fida-Mers Sultan Prefecture, then of Casablanca-Anfa Prefecture in 2009.
From 2011 to 2013, Safir held the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
On October 2013, King Mohammed VI appointed Safir as the Wali of the Casablanca Region and Governor of the Casablanca Prefecture. Safir was then made Governor of the Casablanca-Settat Region and Governor of the Casablanca Prefecture in 2015.
During the council of ministers that the King chaired on Wednesday, July 13 to adopt draft decrees and draft framework bills, the monarch also appointed Ali Seddiki as the general-director of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE).
Former director of the CDG Abdellatif Zaghnoun has been appointed as Director General of the National Agency for strategic management of state participations and the monitoring of the performance of public institutions and companies.
Meanwhile, Nourreddine Boutayeb was appointed Chairman of the Management Board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc, while Abderrahim Houmy will serve as Director General of the National Agency for Water and Forests.
