Rabat – This year’s edition of the annual Marhaba campaign will start on Sunday June 5, “under the high instructions” of King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) reported earlier today.

The 2022 edition of the campaign is set to be marked by the implementation of a global reception system, with reception spaces in Morocco, France, Italy, and Spain.

In anticipation of higher numbers of visitors this year, says s press release from the Mohammed V Foundation, the organizer of Operation Marhaba, new reception areas have been opened in Morocco as well.

Numbers are expected to be higher this year due to Morocco’s easing of its COVID-19 restrictions. But an equally important factor appears to be an increased desire  among Moroccan expatriates to visit their home country and families after two excruciating years of COVID-induced disruptions to their vacation plans.

In Morocco, 17 spaces will be active, located in the ports of Tanger, Al Hoceima, and Nador, as well as the airports in Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, and Fez.

Two new areas were opened this year in the Rabat-Sale International Airport and M’Diq.

In Europe, there will be six Marhaba spaces in the ports of Genoa, Sete, Marseille, Motril, Almeria, and Algeciras.

The Mohammed V Foundation said nearly 1,000 of its social workers, doctors, and volunteers will be participating in the operations to assist Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) in their visits to their home country.

Call centers will also be available 24/7 to assist travelers at the following numbers:

– Free green line for calls from within Morocco: 080 000 23 23

– Genoa, Italy: +39 351 634 03 27

– Marseille, France: +33 6 240 737 65

– Sete, France: +33 6 240 737 66

– Motril, Spain: +34 602 389 703

– Almeria, Spain: +34 631 482 637

– Algeciras, Spain: +34 631 012 349

– Other calls from abroad: +212 537 20 5566 / +212 537 20 6666

The Marhaba operation is an annual campaign conducted during the summer by the Mohammed VI Foundation to facilitate the travel of Morrcans residing abroad (MREs) who are visiting the country.
