Rabat – Shocking testimonies are ongoing against Jacque Bouthier, a 75-year-old French businessman who was recently charged with human trafficking and the rape of a minor. The list of the Frenchman’s victims also includes vulnerable Moroccan women.
Bouthier is the owner of Assu 2000, the insurance company commonly known as Vilavi Group. Assu 2000 also has a branch in Tangier, northern Morocco, working under the name of Euro-Assurance.
The case started when a 22-year-old woman of Moroccan origin filed a complaint against Bouthier in Paris in March of this year.
During her testimony, the woman said Bouthier held her captive for five years and repeatedly raped her.
The rape incidents happened when she was a minor, the woman recounted to the police, adding that Bouthier then told her she “was becoming too old and forced her to find a 14-year-old replacement.”
The 22-year-old woman then filmed Bouthier and the minor in bed and presented the footage to the police as proof.
French news outlet BFMTV believes that there are more victims of Bouthier in Morocco, precisely in Tangier where Assu2000 established its branch.
“In fact, he came to do his shopping [select victims] in Morocco. His type was young, thin, and rather small Moroccan women,” Khamisse, a former employee and manager of Assu 2000 in Tangier said in a statement to the media. He added that Bouthier “flirted with anything that moved.”
Ghita, another employee who worked at Assu 2000 Tangier, said that she received several complaints from girls about Bouthier’s attitude. According to Ghita, most of the young women privately complained that Bouthier was touching them on their breasts but they never filed complaints against him.
“I spoke to my managers about it immediately. They said to me we must not make a big deal out of it. We have to cool it down,” said Ghita, noting that she then warned the girls against approaching Bouthier when he was around.
“I advised the girls to go to the bathroom or take a break when he came on,” she said.
Reports in the French media suggest that in addition to Bouthier, several other people including employees in his company were charged for failing to denounce sexual assault against employees.
Bouthier is facing several charges including human trafficking, rape, and sexual assault of a minor under 15.
