Rabat – A court in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta last week sentenced two minors confirmed to have taken part in the murder of Abdeslam Ahogan in November of last year.
The two minors accompanied an adult who is believed to be the main perpetrator of the murder; he has yet to be tried, reported El Faro Ceuta (EFC) on Sunday.
Charged with being a main accomplice in the murder, the first minor was sentenced to five years in prison, with a three-year probation period.
The second minor is accused of a continuous crime of unconditional threats towards the victim, threatening public safety, and the illegal possession of weapons. He was handed a two-year prison sentence.
According to the Spanish law firm Amparo Legal, unconditional threats are considered a crime when “the evil with which it is threatened does NOT carry a condition. A good example would be: I’m going to kill you.”
After several hearing sessions, the court released the story as follows:
Both minors, aged 17, accompanied the main suspect (the yet-to-be-tried adult) to the souk (market) area in Barrio del Principe Alfonso neighborhood in Ceuta to commit the crime. The accused were wearing face masks to conceal their identities. The adult fired up to three gunshots from a Glock pistol that he owned, to spread fear among the people.
Afterwards, the adult, accompanied by only one of the now convicted minors, went to a sandwich shop, where Abdeslam was working, “with the intention of causing his death,” reported EFC.
The adult shot Abdeslam in the head, and the victim died a few minutes later from the head injury.
The adult is scheduled to defend himself in a hearing session to be held at a later date, said the Spanish court, without giving details.
Last year, the Principe neighborhood mourned the death of Abdeslam Ahogan. He was 39 years old when he died, and he left behind three children. The news shocked the residents of the neighborhood, who both loved and respected the man.
