The Moroccan Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (RISENE) and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) are set to organize The World PtX summit between June 22-24 in Marrakech.

The summit is a regional platform committed to green hydrogen and its application in the Power-To-X (PtX) technology that converts renewable electricity from wind, solar, or water into storable fuels.

Participants will include technical experts, policymakers, and official representatives of the renewable energy field around the world to discuss the opportunities green hydrogen offers for a clean energy era.

According to a report by McKinsey & Company, Morocco is a forerunner in green hydrogen production and could capture up to 4% of the global market for the “new oil.”

Morocco’s success in hydrogen production is the result of its renewable energy plan, with the country having achieved over 40% renewables in the past decade. Notably, Morocco has committed to raising the share of renewables in its energy consumption by 52% in 2030, 70% by 2040, and 80% by 2050.  and expecting

The summit themes will revolve around the Power-to-X market potential, the technological challenges facing hydrogen production, and the industrial transition to the Power-to-X technology.

The event is expected to raise important questions on how to finance and regulate hydrogen and decarbonize mobility by using green fuel and discuss the key export markets and the sectors to make the most demand for the new clean energy.

Morocco has developed a wide range of partnerships across Europe to drive its hydrogen production forward and build new funding and training strategies.

The switch to green energy presents a better future for the world and sustainable opportunities for sectors like biofuels, agriculture, textile, and apparel.

For the organizers, the “World Power-to-X Summit” is a platform to discuss the new era of clean energy driven by green hydrogen and combine efforts to address the various challenges related to the development of new forms of energy in Morocco.
