Rabat – Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has been appointed to the FIFA Working Group on Normalization Committees.
The group, which will see participation of representatives from every continental governing football body, will oversee the work of normalization committees in the FIFA system.
The committee will also observe how national football associations are currently working and what they should do to improve their operations and become more efficient in the future.
In addition, the working group will look into improvements for the governance and administrative structure of the normalization committees themselves.
The working group is expected to communicate directly with the FIFA Council to relay suggestions and recommendations on the structural reforms.
Lekjaa was reportedly invited to the position by Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
FIFA has appointed normalization committees before to countries where the national governing bodies of football had difficulties conducting elections or were facing other similar bureaucratic issues.
Over the past year, FIFA appointed such committees in countries like Chad, Egypt, Guinea, Pakistan, over concerns of widespread corruption and political meddling in the internal affairs of national football federations.
