Rabat – London-based company Henley & Partners has ranked the Moroccan passport as the 79th most powerful worldwide in its 2022 Henley Passport Index.

According to the company’s latest report, Moroccan passports ranked 79th in the first quarter of 2022, allowing its holders to travel to 64 destinations without a visa.

The index compares 199 passports and lists 227 destinations, ranking passports based on the number of visa-free destinations their holders can access.

Alongside Morocco, holders of Cuban and Ghanaian passports also have access to 64 visa-free destinations.

The Moroccan passport maintained the same ranking it had during the fourth quarter of 2020.

In the North African region, Morocco’s passport ranks second after Tunisia (72th globally), and ahead of Mauritania (84th), Algeria (92th), and Libya (103rd).

Leading the ranking across Africa are Seychelles (28th worldwide), Mauritius (31st), and South Africa (51st) lead, while Eritrea (100th), Congo (101st), Sudan (102nd), and Libya (103rd) come in last.

In the Gulf, the UAE comes in 15th globally (175 visa-free destinations), while Qatar ranks 53rd with 97 visa-exempt destinations.

Kuwait follows in 54th position, with 95 visa-free destinations, Bahrain in (62nd), Oman (64th), and Saudi Arabia is 65th worldwide.

Japan and Singapore tie for first place with access to 192 visa-free destinations, while second place goes to both Germany and South Korea (190 destinations).

Italy, Finland, Spain, and Luxembourg tied for third position. Denmark, Austria, France, the Netherlands, and Sweden are fourth in the ranking.

Meanwhile Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan come last in the global ranking, with visa-free access to only 29, 28, and 26 destinations, respectively.

The evaluation takes into account exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

According to the Henley Passport Index, the IATA “maintains the world’s largest and most accurate database of travel information.”
