Rabat – Low-cost Irish carrier Ryanair has decided to cancel all its flights until February 1, 2022.

Ryanair said in a statement that it has regrettably postponed all its flights to Morocco due to the “lack of communication from the side of the Moroccan government” regarding the country’s recently announced two-week flight suspension.

Morocco’s decision to suspend all flights has affected 160,000 Ryanair customers to date.

In its statement, the Irish company said the prevailing uncertainty as to when Morocco’s travel ban will be lifted has led it to decide to cancel all its flights to the North African country until February 1.

The decision has left an additional 230,000 Ryanair clients facing disruptions to their travel plans.

Ryanair says it has contacted all of its passengers individually via email, SMS, and the Ryanair app to communicate the flight delay and provide other choices, such as a free delayed flight or a flight voucher refund.

The Moroccan government announced on November 28 a two-week travel ban to avoid a potential outbreak of Omicron, the new variant of the COVID-19 virus.

Making the announcement was the Interministerial Committee for the Coordination and Monitoring of the  COVID-19 health crisis, which insisted the measure aimed to preserve the progress Morocco has made in the fight against the pandemic in recent months.
