Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Health confirmed 1,192 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s total number of infections to 930,891.
The figures recorded in the past 24 confirm the significant decrease in infection rates as Morocco accelerates efforts to reach its vaccination goals.
Abdelkrim Meziane Belafkih, the head of the Communicable Diseases Department at the Ministry of Health, said that the rate of infections has significantly decreased across Morocco for the seventh consecutive week.
This indicates a marked improvement in the country’s epidemiological situation, he noted, recalling the encouraging figures recorded in Morocco’s ongoing vaccination campaign.
According to the ministry’s latest data, Morocco recorded 1,558 new recoveries in the past 24 hours, which brings to 902,778 the country’s total number of COVID recoveries.
The ministry also recorded 26 new deaths in the past 24 hours, with the new additions meaning 14,225 have officially died of COVID-19 since the virus was first detected in Morocco in March of last year .
There are currently 13,888 active COVID cases in Morocco, including 985 in critical conditions.
As of this evening, Morocco is now home to 18,790,22 fully vaccinated people, while the number of first dose-vaccinated residents has reached 22,309,639, according to the latest figures from the ministry of health.
This shows that Morocco’s vaccination campaign is close to reaching the government’s initial objective of vaccinating 80% of the population by December.
Morocco is also expecting new batches of Senopharm and Pfizer vaccines as authorities appear to be seeking to accelerate the vaccination campaign to reach their goals within the planned time frame.
