Rabat – News reporters in France have found individuals selling fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination certificates to travelers heading to Morocco and other countries.
Both France Info and Le Parisien got in touch with individuals selling either falsified vaccination certificates or legitimate certificates issued from vaccination centers without a vaccine having been obtained. The costs figure in the 250-300 euro range.
In addition to operating on social media networks like Snapchat and Telegram, these forgers also advertise on the internet. They ask that money transfers be facilitated through encrypted services such as Monero, so that the transaction history is impossible to track.
“We offer you the creation of a health pass 100% valid and made by doctors with whom we collaborate,” wrote to France Info one such channel. They asked the French reporter who was masquerading as a client for 250 euros for the vaccination certificate, promising to deliver it within seven days.

“It works! I already have people who have traveled with it, who went to Morocco, Spain, Portugal,” reassured the individual behind the channel. The channel explained that they work with a doctor in Savoie, and as such the end result is a legitimate certificate. Reportedly, the doctor earns 300 euros for each vaccine.
The French Ministry of Health announced that the Regional Agency of Health (ARS) has been alerted “in order to reinforce their vigilance and identify any suspicious acts or movements.” Those falsifying such documents can be fined up to 45,000 euros and receive up to three years in prison.
Earlier this month, police in Italy initiated an investigation into fake COVID-19 vaccine certificates which were being sold on the dark web. The certificates were being sold on the dark web for €150 per certificate.
Italy’s law enforcement announced that it seized 10 encrypted Telegram channels “linked to anonymous accounts in marketplaces on the so-called dark web, through which it was possible to contact the sellers, who required payment in cryptocurrency,” reported Euro News.
