Rabat – Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has expressed his determination to boost cooperation between Israel and Morocco in “all spheres.”

The Israeli PM published a series of tweets, emphasizing the importance of relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv.

In his public statements, Bennett thanked King Mohammed VI for his warm greetings on his election.

On June 15, King Mohammed VI sent a cable of congratulations to Bennet, emphasizing Morocco’s keenness to contribute to advancing peace in the Middle East.

In response to the King’s message, Bennett expressed his “highest esteem” for the Moroccan monarch.

“Israel views Morocco as an important friend and partner in the efforts to advance peace and security in the region,” Bennett wrote.

The Israeli PM also emphasized that his country will continue to boost relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv in all fields “for the welfare and prosperity of both peoples, who have been friends for many years.”

Bennett succeeded long-time prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday.  Bennett is already known among the Israeli government as he served several other positions, including former Minister of Defense from 2019 to 2020.

He also served as a leader of Israel’s New Right Party Yamina.

Morocco re-established ties with Israel in December 2020.

When King Mohammed VI announced the country’s decision, the monarch made it clear that  Rabat will continue to advocate and support the Palestinian cause.

On December 25, King Mohammed VI had a conversation with former PM Netanyahu, recalling the “strong and special” link between Morocco and the Jewish community.

In the call, the King also reiterated Morocco’s consistent, constant, and unchanged position with regards to the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the country’s determination to promote peace in the Middle East.
