Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Health confirmed 319 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the country’s total case count to 13,288. The ministry also announced one more death, for a total of 230.
Recoveries in the last 24 hours amounted to 70, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,160.
Authorities were able to identify 96% of the new cases by monitoring people who came in contact with COVID-19 patients. The new cases emerged in both professional and family environments.
The number of active cases is at a record high, with 3,898 throughout the country. Of these, 19 patients are in critical condition.
The ministry reported it has conducted 732,494 COVID-19 tests since the pandemic emerged in Morocco on March 2.
Geographical distribution
The region of Tangier-Teoutan-Al Hoceima saw a total of 116 COVID-19 cases today, with 93 in Tangier, 15 in Larache, and eight in Tetouan.
The Marrakech-Safi region discovered 72 new cases — 56 of which are in a fish processing factory in Safi, 14 in Marrakech, and two in Kelaat Sraghna.
The region of Casablanca-Settat recorded 42 new cases, with 33 in Casablanca, six in Benslimane, two in Berrechid, and one in Sidi Bennour.
Health officials confirmed five more cases in the southern region of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, all in the city of Laayoune.
Seventy cases were confirmed in the region of Fez-Meknes — 67 in Fez, two in Meknes, and one in Ifrane.
Fourteen cases were confirmed in the region of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra. Eleven are in Sale and three in Temara.
