Rabat – Police in the city of Casablanca arrested three suspects in possession of psychotropic pills on Thursday, January 9.
The police conducted the arrests in separate operations, seizing a total of 2,490 psychotropic pills of the Rivotril type.
Security services arrested the first suspect in possession of 2,460 tablets, while the second suspect was in possession of 30 additional tablets of the same type.
An investigation led to the arrest of the third suspect, who was the suspect of 11 n search warrants in connection with several criminal cases, including intentional homicide.
Police put all the suspects in custody for further investigations to determine the circumstances of the case, a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) concluded.

In another statement quoted by Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), DGSN announced the arrest of two men in possession of o7,580 psychotropic pills.
Police arrested the two men in a car at the entrance to the city.
The operation is part of Morocco’s efforts to combat drug trafficking across the country.
Rivotril pills are among the most common psychotropic pills in the country along with ecstasy. Rivotril has several dangerous side effects, including blurred vision, dizziness, and drowsiness. The drug should only be used by patients based on a doctor’s prescription.
Last year, the DGSN seized 1,407,451 psychotropic tablets, including 974,983 ecstasy tablets imported from Europe.
Police also seized 179,657 tons of cannabis and its derivatives, 542,455 kilograms of cocaine, and 7,196 kilograms of heroin, according to the 2019 annual report of the DGSN.
