Rabat – Morocco’s Wydad Atheltic Club of Football (WAC) qualified to the African Champions League finals after defeating South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. on aggregate (2-1) at the semi-finals on Saturday, May 4.

WAC won the first leg of the semi-finals at a home match by 2 goals to one, on Friday, April 26.

Today’s match witnessed several attacks from both teams but none of them were converted into a goal.

This year’s semi-finals was considered the toughest phase of the history of the competition, gathering the last four years title holders, namely Congo’s TP Mazembe in 2015, Sundowns F.C. in 2016, WAC in 2017, and Esperance de Tunis in 2018.

WAC will now face off against the title holder, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, at a home match on Friday, May 24.

The finals second leg will be on the next Friday, May 31.

The last time both teams met was on the 2011 African Champions League finals. The Tunisian club was then crowned champion of the big African tournament after defeating WAC on aggregate (1-0).
