Rabat – In Morocco’s latest move to establish firm bilateral relations with African states, the kingdom has announced that it will provide teaching programs to train Senegal magistrates.

The initiative is intended to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the area of justice with African states. The Moroccan Minister of Justice, Mohamed Aujjar added that Morocco has also decided to adopt a strong judicial partnership with Gabon.

Senegal’s Minister of Justice, Ismaela Madior Fall, and his Gabonese counterpart Nkea Ndzigue Francis met Thursday with Moroccan minister Mohammed Aujjar in Rabat to discuss areas of cooperation.

“My presence in Morocco is due to the strong and deep rooted relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal,” said Madior Fall in a video by Moroccan news outlet le360.“The republic seeks to learn from the expertise of Morocco’s judicial system, particularly since the constitution of 2011, Morocco has become a clear model for the judiciary.”

Oujar stated that the initiative is part of a larger plan for the continent, saying that “Morocco is moving towards a new era, as Morocco is seeking to establish strategic relations with African states, under the commands of King Mohammed VI.”

Strong Support

In mid-March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar was received by Senegalese President Macky Sall.

Mezouar stressed that King Mohammed VI “has always made sure that Senegal, its president and its institutions are always associated with the steps carried out by Morocco and the sovereign.”

The minister went on to say that Senegal has always supported, “in a committed and strong way at all levels,” Morocco’s return to the African institutional family. He added that Morocco has now engaged in a new approach in joining the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Sall took the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to supporting Morocco and the King, noting that he “has greatly appreciated the initiative and considers that the natural place of Morocco is also within the ECOWAS.”
