Kamala Mammadova

Kamala Mammadova is an Azerbaijani journalist and media executive serving as the Editor-in-Chief of 1news.az, one of Azerbaijan's leading online news platforms.

A graduate of the Faculty of Journalism, she has nearly 20 years of professional experience in journalism, editorial management, and strategic communications.

In recognition of her contribution to the development of journalism in Azerbaijan, Kamala Mammadova was awarded the "Tərəqqi" (Progress) Medal by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Her work focuses on peacebuilding, post-conflict reconciliation, the media's role in fostering dialogue, and combating disinformation. Kamala is particularly interested in how journalism can contribute to trust-building and sustainable peace in conflict-affected regions.

Kamala is an active member of the Peace Bridge Initiative, a cross-border dialogue platform that brings together representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia to support people-to-people engagement and promote regional peace. She has taken part in dialogue meetings in both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Beyond political reporting, Kamala Mammadova covers social policy, digital transformation, media literacy, education, and inclusive development.

Kamala has participated in a number of international media forums and conferences, including the Shusha Global Media Forum.

She believes that journalism should not only inform society but also contribute to building trust, encouraging dialogue, and creating opportunities for lasting peace.
