Rabat – The Moroccan Atlas Lions brought another moment of magic– the moment that marks Morocco’s first-ever World Cup semi-finals qualification in the country’s history.

The Atlas Lions had the young and elderly jumping in the street to celebrate the historic win against Portugal this evening.

Celebrations in front of Morocco’s parliament in Rabat, Morocco.

In Rabat and the surrounding regions, Moroccan fans were wrapped in flags. Others waved the flags while either chanting Morocco’s anthem or slogans, such as “Dima Maghreb” (Morocco forever).

Mothers and girls shared the excitement by spreading youyous (the high-pitch ululation), while others danced and jumped as high as they could to celebrate Morocco’s Atlas Lions.

Some others decided to flock to the streets driving their cars and pressing their vehicles’ horns to celebrate the win. Others resorted to observing the scene, smiling at everyone crossing the street to share their happiness and excitement for Morocco’s win.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions made history tonight. They made history for locals and those in Qatar attending the games. They made history for Arabs supporting them from across the world in Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia –  and across the whole Arab World. They made history for Africa, a continent that has always been crazy and passionate about football.

This win means nothing is impossible and fans are now eager to see the Atlas Lions make it to the final.
