Miami – English former football star, David Beckham, said that French Legend Zinedine Zidane, is “arguably the best player” with whom he has played in his career.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player will be captain of the United Kingdom / Ireland team against the “Rest of World” team, which will be led by Zidane and managed by Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti on 14 November.
The former English midfielder is a Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF and he is also one of the organizers of the charity match to be held at Old Trafford.
Appearing at a press conference Tuesday afternoon, the English legend, who was “involved in the selection of equipment” said: “Zidane is a friend and possibly the best player I’ve ever played with.”
“I’m excited to be back, this game makes me very proud. After retiring, I never thought I would put the boots,” he said.
The former highly-acclaimed winger shared the dressing room with Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu from 2003-04 to 2005-06.
Although at the time, Real Madrid was regarded as the ‘strongest team’ in Europe and the world, with players such as Beckham, Zidane, Figo, Roberto Carlos, and Raul Gonzalez, it failed to win the Champions League title.
