Marrakech – Moroccan police arrested a 38-year-old French national of Senegalese origin on Saturday in Marrakech. The suspect is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in the Netherlands.
A screening through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database confirmed the man was wanted under a Red Notice. The notice was circulated at the request of the National Central Bureau in The Hague.
The suspect is allegedly involved in a case involving kidnapping, endangering personal safety, and freedoms under threat and violence. The crimes were committed in the Dutch city of Zeist, according to available information.
Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under extradition proceedings on instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office. The National Central Bureau in Rabat, operating under Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), notified its Dutch counterpart of the arrest.
The operation falls within Morocco’s broader commitment to international security cooperation, particularly in tracking and apprehending individuals wanted across borders.
The arrest caps a particularly active month for Moroccan security services. June saw a string of high-profile arrests and extraditions tied to international warrants.
On June 8, police arrested 11 individuals in simultaneous operations across Marrakech and Tangier. The suspects included 10 dual Moroccan-French, Belgian, or Dutch nationals and one French citizen.
They were wanted on Red Notices issued at the request of judicial authorities in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Charges ranged from money laundering and drug trafficking to fraud and links to criminal organizations. Police seized luxury watches, vehicles, cocaine, and cash in multiple currencies during the operation.

That same month, Morocco approved the extradition of Michael Steven, CEO of Indonesian insurance firm Kresna Life. Steven was arrested in Morocco in March on an Interpol warrant. His extradition was approved on June 12, and Indonesian police took custody on June 20. He faces allegations of money laundering and embezzlement of insurance customers’ funds.

The operation followed intelligence from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST). Police seized forged residence permits, counterfeit official stamps, and foreign passports.
On June 29, police in Al Hoceima arrested a 28-year-old French-Moroccan man wanted by French authorities for a 2019 murder in Paris. The suspect allegedly shot and killed a person with an automatic weapon in a public street as part of criminal gang activities.
Saturday’s arrest in Marrakech adds to a growing list of internationally wanted individuals detained or extradited by Moroccan authorities over the course of a single month. The pace and scale of operations undercut any lingering notion that the country serves as a safe haven for fugitives fleeing international justice.
