Agadir – Morocco has signed a new public-private partnership to develop national expertise in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, as the country steps up efforts to advance its Morocco Digital 2030 strategy.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, bringing together the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, and the ALTEN Group.
It seeks to strengthen skills development in digital professions and AI by better aligning the needs of businesses with Morocco’s higher education, training, and scientific research ecosystem.
According to the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, the initiative is part of the implementation of the national Morocco Digital 2030 strategy and the “AI Made in Morocco” roadmap, both of which aim to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and technological capabilities.
“Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni signed a partnership agreement on Thursday aimed at strengthening skills development in digital technologies and artificial intelligence by aligning businesses’ needs with Morocco’s education, training, and scientific research ecosystem,” the ministry said.
Beyond workforce development, the agreement is designed to reinforce collaboration between government institutions, universities, and the private sector while supporting Morocco’s transition toward Industry 4.0.
The partnership is built around four main areas of cooperation. These include joint research and development of AI applications for predictive maintenance, computer-aided design, industrial simulation, process optimization, and automated quality control.
‘Investing in human capital’
It also provides for the creation of sector-specific accelerators to develop advanced technological solutions for Morocco’s automotive, aerospace, and railway industries, drawing on ALTEN’s international expertise.
Another component of the agreement focuses on establishing technology platforms for experimentation, prototyping, and testing, including digital twin and simulation technologies that will be accessible to local industrial players.
The final pillar centers on developing specialized training programs in applied AI, advanced engineering, and digital transformation through partnerships with Moroccan universities and leading higher education institutions.
Commenting on the initiative, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administration Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni stressed that investing in people remains the foundation of Morocco’s digital ambitions.
“The success of Morocco’s digital transformation depends first and foremost on investing in human capital,” the minister said.
She concluded that developing national expertise in artificial intelligence, data, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies “is a fundamental pillar for strengthening the Kingdom’s digital sovereignty, enhancing the competitiveness of businesses, and fostering the emergence of a national AI ecosystem developed in Morocco and dedicated to supporting economic development and serving the public interest.”
