Paris – King Mohammed VI endeavours to promote a moderate Islam and fight terrorism, writes the French daily “Le Monde” on Wednesday, highlighting the speech addressed by the Sovereign to the Nation on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People.

In this speech, says the publication, the Sovereign condemns the jihadists and calls on the Moroccans living abroad to reject them, adding that the King is positioned as the advocate of moderation.

The paper notes that the Sovereign also urged the Moroccan expatriates to “remain firmly committed to their religious values and to their time-honored traditions as they face up to this phenomenon which has nothing to do with their culture or background.”

Le Monde underlines that the promotion of “moderate” Islam is not only an internal issue but it is also at the heart of an intense and ancient religious diplomacy conducted by Morocco.
