Morocco has secured 22nd place worldwide in international tourist arrivals in 2025, after receiving 19.8 million visitors, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer from UN Tourism, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy.

The result marks a clear upward shift for the country. Morocco advanced three positions in one year and moved up 12 places compared with 2019, a period widely used as a reference point for global tourism recovery and growth comparisons.

Morocco also improved its position in global tourism revenues. The country now ranks 31st worldwide, up from 32nd, with earnings reaching 14.8 billion dollars. The figures point to stronger demand and higher value per visitor within the national tourism offer.

Officials link this performance to reforms launched under the national tourism roadmap introduced in 2023.

The plan seeks to widen air links, expand hotel capacity, diversify destinations, and improve service quality across the sector, alongside efforts to strengthen professional skills within tourism-related jobs.

Early data from 2026 suggests that this trajectory continues. During the first quarter, Morocco recorded close to 7% growth in tourist arrivals, a rate more than three times higher than the global average of 2% reported by UN Tourism.

Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the results reflect the long-term vision attributed to King Mohammed VI. She added that the current momentum supports efforts to reinforce Morocco’s position among leading global destinations by 2030.
