 Rabat, February 22, 2012 (MAP)

The 11th edition of the Mawazine festival will celebrate Moroccan music through featuring concerts by renowned singers such as Naïma Samih and Laila Ghofrane, the festival’s organiser, “Association Maroc cultures”, said in a statement.

The stages of Salé, Nahda, Salle Bahnini and theatre Mohammed VI will be the main venues where the Moroccan singers of different genres and generations will enchant their fans, the statement said.

Moroccan divas, Naima Samih and Laila Ghofrane will perform in the stage of Nahda on May 25, while the stage of Salé will host on May 21 the icon of Morocco’s classical song, Mahmoud El Idrissi along with such renowned singers as Amal Abdelkader and Imane Elouadi.

Other Moroccan artists representing urban, popular and Amazigh music will also be invited to sing in the festival (to run from May 19 until 26), the statement went on to say.

R&B diva, Mariah Carey has agreed to perform in the closing concert of the nine-day festival
