According to the High Commission of Planning (HCP), the performance of the building sector and public works, including infrastructure projects financed and constructed by the government will slow down slightly in the third part of the current year.

According to the daily AL Massae, the HCP conducted a data collection based on the predictions expressed by professionals, especially in industry and the building sector.

The results revealed that 28 % of professionals predict a slight decrease in the construction business while 21 % anticipate a notable increase in this activity.

The HCP report ascribes this potential decrease to a slight reduction in the production of non iron metals.

The predictions related to the secondary industry show that the production of non iron metals will stagnate during the third part of the current year.

Nevertheless, 28 % of the building sector professionals foresee a hike in non iron metals’ production while 43 % expect it to stagnate.

The stagnation of non iron metals production is due to the projected increase in the production of chemical and semi chemical products. Nonetheless, the performance of   textiles and electronics is expected to decrease.

The HCP data predict also an increase in the output of the energy industry especially that oil refining and electricity production is expected to improve in the third part of the current year.

A proportion of 40 % among Industry Professionals also predict a slight increase in the processing of primary products while 29% predict a decrease.

As far as the demand for industrial products is concerned, professionals asserted that demand in the energy industry as well as the secondary industry has reached normal levels.
