For the third straight year, the association of Rahma (Mercy) for the Orphans and the Widows in Smara, Moroccan Sahara, has organized a very unique and successful campaign to help the families of the orphans and the widows in this occasion of the Eid and to bring a smile to the face and the eyes of the orphans instead of tears.
According to Mr. Salih Nwini, the General Secretary of Rahma association, “the number of rams being delivered to these poor families was unexpected as the association succeeded in breaking last year’s record by bringing joy and smiles to 140 families of orphans and widows.”
In a meeting with MWN in Smara, Mr. Nwini shed light upon, “the importance of taking care of orphans and giving them a sense of belonging and that they are not alone as these humanitarian initiatives revive our Islamic values of cooperation, sharing, charity, social solidarity, and integrity.”
For his association, “this religious occasion was an opportunity for many philanthropists from outside the city to draw a smile on the faces of 140 families and to make them feel the happiness of slaughtering a ram and celebrating the Eid with no feeling of being forgotten by society.”
Accordingly, many people have been applauded for this great humanitarian work as it is a first of its kind in the city to show those children and wives who lost their fathers or their husbands that society will never forget them and that the city serves as their fathers, mothers, and brothers. The feast is now one in which the eyes that were expected to cry instead will be dry, laugh and smile.
