Medi 1 TV reported on Thursday that Houcine El Ouardi, (PPS) Minister of Health, confirmed a government decision aiming at an immediate reduction, of up to 50%, in medicines’ prices.
The reduction applies to 320 types of medicines, particularly those prescribed for serious diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections, diseases affecting the digestive system, the glands and the nervous system, in addition to anesthesia and reanimation.
“These measures are likely to facilitate access to medicines at reasonable prices, while we work towards the implementation of a clear national policy in this field”, El Ouardi said.
In this regard, El Ouardi stated that the government has decided, in an irreversible decision, to ban public doctors from working simultaneously in the private sector, giving them only three weeks to consider their commitments with other private health institutions.
It is worth mentioning that the Medical assistance program known as (RAMED), which aims at improving the level and quality of medical services for approximately 936,000 people, is still not applicable in most regions.
