Casablanca- After an explosion leveled a traditional Hamam for women, sending smoke billowing into the air, at a late hour of Tuesday night, a number of the women inside narrowly escaped running naked into the street in the district of La Gerand, Casablanca.
The massive explosion reportedly rocked the district of La Gerand, causing panic amid the residents of the neighborhood who were astonished to see women running naked into the street while the smoke billowed out of the traditional Hamam.
Reports say there were many women inside the traditional Hamam at the moment of the explosion. Some of them made it outside, while others were overcome by smoke, according to Alyaoum24.
The Moroccan Fire Department immediately rushed to the scene, and saved the women who were still inside the Hamam.
Alyaoum24 quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the massive explosion that devastated the Hamam which was located in the basement of a residential building could have made the entire building collapse. The owner of the hamam reportedly had no authorization to establish a hamam. “The owner had obtained an authorization to set up a sauna, but he transformed it into a traditional Hamam,’’ concluded an eyewitness.
