Casablanca- Casablanca population reached 4,270,750 people in September 2014, including 4,242,589 Moroccans and 28,161 foreigners, Regional Director of the High Commission for Planning, Mohamed karfaoui, said Tuesday.
This number represents 12.6 pc of the overall population of the Kingdom, Karfaoui said in a meeting to present the preliminary results of the 2014 general population census in the region, adding that the number of households in the region reached 1,032,576, or 14.1 pc of the overall households in Morocco.
Compared to the 2004 census, the population of the region has recorded an overall relative variation of 17.6 pc and evolved at an average annual rate of increase (AARI) 1.64 pc, whereas nationally, these two indicators stood at 13.2 pc and 1.25 pc respectively.
Karfaoui also noted that the rate of urbanization in the region reached nearly 95 pc compared to 60.3 pc at the national level.
