Rabat – The UN Security Council welcomed, on Wednesday, the meeting in Morocco of the participants in the Libyan political dialogue with a view to reaching an agreement on a government of national accord based on the fourth draft of the Political Agreement facilitated by the UN Envoy, Bernardino Leon.

“The members of the Security Council emphasized the urgency for the Libyan parties to agree on a Government of National Accord and, in this context, welcomed the meeting of the participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue in Morocco on 8-9 June,” the Security Council said in a press statement.

Skhirat in the outskirts of Rabat has hosted five rounds of political talks between the Libyan rivals under the umbrella of the UN.

The fifth round was held last week and ended with a “positive” feedback from the participating delegations representing the different stakeholders in the crisis.

While recalling the different resolutions of the 15 members of the Council reaffirmed full support for Libya’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity.
