Rabat – Chelsea’s manager, José Mourinho, can breathe calmly after the Football Association has decided he will not face any action for having allegedly insulted former Chelsea’s doctor Eva Carneiro.
On Wednesday, the FA announced they dropped the charges based on results obtained from an expert’s analysis. The Portuguese coach will not be charged with the five-match ban that the FA had announced if he had been found guilty of “verbally abusing” Carneiro.
“After receiving the report from the expert, the FA is satisfied that the words used do not constitute discriminatory language under FA Rules,” read the statement by the FA.
“Furthermore, both the words used, as translated and analysed by the independent expert, and the video evidence, do not support the conclusion that the words were directed at any person in particular”.
The video evidence presented on September 8 to the FA, which included an audience member’s testimony, allegedly said that Mourinho called Carneiro “filha de puta” (daughter of a whore) in Portuguese. The phrase is considered “sexist language”.
Even though Chelsea’s boss was cleared of all charges, medical professionals expressed their disagreement over Mou’s actions and declared their support for Dr. Carneiro’s entrance on the pitch during the Chelsea-Swansea match on August 8.
“The Football Medical Association fully supports the actions of our members and colleagues in this incident who acted with integrity and professionalism at all times, fully cognizant of the rules of the game and in full accordance with that duty of care to their patient,” stated the medical association.
