Brussels – The European Union commended this Monday “important progress” made in the process of democratic reforms in Morocco.
In the final declaration of the 13th session of EU-Morocco Association Council, the EU stressed that important progress was made in the implementation of the Constitution and the process of democratic reforms, including the adoption of organic laws on advanced regionalization.
The twenty-eight Member States said they are ready to support Morocco in local governance reforms and to facilitate the implementation of social and economic reforms, including at the local level.
On the reform of justice, the European Union expressed its support for this process, including through financial assistance.
The EU also noted that technical and financial cooperation dynamics during the year 2015 helped achieve significant progress in various key areas identified by the Action Plan for the implementation of advanced status.
The Moroccan delegation to this meeting was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar.
