Rabat – The video bellow details the life of Assma, a young woman from the southern city of Ouarzazate. Like so many other women in Morocco, Assma spends her days making and selling Msamen on the streets.
In the video, Assma vividly describes the difficulties she faces in day to day life; from her father insisting she remain in the home, to disapproval from male customers. Assma also voices her dreams of wanting to travel and find a husband.
“I could dream to have more” she explains, “but education is important and I didn’t study.”
Despite this unfortunate reality, Assma says that being able to earn her own money to support herself is what keeps her motivated.
