Rabat – Morocco is an “important partner” for Germany in the management of legal migration and the fight against illegal immigration, Bundesrat President, Stanislaw Tillich, said on Thursday.
“Morocco and Germany are determined to strengthen their cooperation to find common solutions to deal with illegal migration”, Tillich told MAP following a meeting in Rabat with the Minister for Moroccans Residing abroad and Migration Affairs, Anis Birou.
The President of the Bundesrat also expressed his “satisfaction” with the forthcoming visit of Moroccan Interior Minister to Germany, noting that Rabat and Berlin will work to establish a joint working group in order to undertake actions to reduce the number of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa, notably through the launch of joint projects offering a decent life in their origin countries.
“The two countries also plan to launch joint development projects in the renewable energy sector”, said Mr. Tillich, urging German companies to invest in Morocco.
