Bouznika- Aziz Akhannouch, outgoing Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, was elected Saturday as new president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), at the extraordinary party congress held in Bouznika (35 km south of Rabat).
Akhannouch was elected by 1,707 votes against 98 votes for his rival Rachid Sassi.
He will succeed Salaheddine Mezouar, who had submitted his resignation after the results of the party in the October 7 parliamentary elections.
