Antananarivo – Africa is a priority for HM King Mohammed VI and Morocco, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar, stressed Saturday in the capital of Madagascar.

“The development of Africa remains a priority for HM the King and Morocco,” Mezouar told the press on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 16th Summit of the Francophonie.

“Any other allegation is a baseless lie aimed at disguising the truth,” the minister said, commenting on the withdrawal of several countries from the Arab-African summit in Malabo because of the presence of the emblem of a puppet entity in the meeting rooms.

The minister, who represented HM the King at the Summit of the Francophonie, called for a “return to reason which requires respect for formats as defined” and deplored “small politician maneuvers that have no significance and do not serve African countries “.

These are “small outdated methods as we live in a world that demands respect for partners and institutions,” he stressed, pointing out that the participation in activities organized by Arab and African parties should be confined to the member countries of the United Nations.

It is an “inelegant way of trying to impose on states things that they do not recognize”, he regretted.

Referring to the Moroccan participation in the summit of the Francophonie, the minister noted that the Kingdom has always been an “active player in the French-speaking world “.

“Morocco, which has always been active under the leadership of HM the King, has demonstrated this will through the royal tours and the vision to build a peaceful world in which the human element remains at the heart of every effort, any initiative and any development policy”, he said.

Mezouar added that this is a genuine South-South vision that aims to strengthen the relations between developing countries that trust themselves and the future.
