Casablanca – Morocco has reportedly contributed to the arrest of seven people suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in France.
Morocco has helped prevent a terrorist attack in France by revealing important information about those suspected of committing the act.
An official from Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said that the seven suspected individuals, who were arrested in Strasbourg and Marseille on the weekend of November 19 and 20, were comprised of five French citizens, one Moroccan and one Afghan. All those arrested were between 29 and 37-years-old.
While six of the suspects were known to be residing in France, French Minister of Interior Bernard Cazaneuve says the Moroccan suspect was “signaled by a partner country,” the same source added..
A source close to the case has confirmed to Telquel that Morocco had shared crucial information with French authorities regarding the seven suspects. The DGSN has long been known to partner with other countries in the fight against terrorism. In fact, Morocco has dismantled more than 155 terrorist cells since 2002.
The European continent has been on high alert against terrorist attacks. Just last week, the United States State Department alerted its citizens to the possible dangers of traveling to Europe, given the high risk of terrorist threat.
