Rabat – Morocco called, Thursday in Jeddah, on the international community, especially the major powers, to be deeply involved in resolving the Syrian crisis and put an end to the tragedy of the Syrian people.

The call was launched at the urgent meeting of the Executive Committee at the ministerial level of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on developments of the situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Speaking on this occasion, Abdelkrim Bensallam, an official at the Foreign Ministry, expressed the full conviction of Morocco that the resolution of the Syrian crisis requires a strong involvement of the international community, notably the major powers, to take action on the ground and positively influence the course of events.

Morocco also condemned raids targeting neighborhoods in Syrian towns and villages and causing the death of innocent civilians, while urging the parties to seek a consensual solution that puts an end to the tragedy of the Syrian people.

Morocco also expressed its concern at the worsening of the political and humanitarian crisis in Syria, which will affect the future, security and territorial integrity of the country, recalling the efforts and concrete initiatives it has undertaken to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people, upon high instructions of King Mohammed VI.
