WSJ: Morocco is Leading Africa’s Automotive Industry

Paris – The growth of the automotive industry in Morocco is impressive, said Thursday French daily “Le Figaro”, stressing that the north African country is expected to produce nearly 350,000 vehicles in 2016.

“In 2016, Morocco is expected to produce nearly 350,000 vehicles, against 100,000 vehicles in 2012,” the paper added.

“The Moroccan government had set up favorable tax conditions. It had built the necessary infrastructure for the installation of industrial sites, notably in the Tanger Med port.”

The main attraction of Morocco for manufacturers is, logically, the low cost of production: it is a low-cost country, like Romania or Turkey, the paper noted.
